In what has got to have been the most mind-blowing event we’ve seen from Apple in quite some time, Apple today announced a whopping five new products including the long anticipated 13″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display, all new super slim iMacs, updated Mac Minis, new Fusion Drive technology and of course… the new iPad 4 and iPad Mini.
The rumour mill has been going crazy these last few weeks with rumours of the widely anticipated iPhone 5. The new phone which is reported to be slimmer, feature a new smaller dock connector and NFC (Near Field Communication) technology (but loosing the all glass back) is said to be being released in the back half of September at an Apple special event which will also announce a new smaller 8″ iPad Mini.
Apple have just launched a couple of new advertising campaigns in the states for the iPhone 4s using popular celebrities to show us normal folk how they can use Siri in their day to day lives. The adverts feature girly actor Zooey Deschanel and the always awesome Samuel L Jackson putting Siri through her paces. Hit the jump to see the ads for yourself

The rumour mill is still going crazy with excitement on the impending release of the iPad 3 at some point during March. At this point it’s all just conjecture but the general consensous is that the iPad 3 is going to have a Retina quality display and if the iPhone 4′s doubling of the previous models display is anything to go by, that should mean the iPad 3 will have a WHOPPING 2048 x 1536 pixel display, crammed into a 10″ screen.
Jack is the smallest member of the MyShinyEye team at just 18 months old, but he absolutely loves playing with my iPad 2! I recently sat down with him and tried to work out which are his favourite iPad apps and this is the list we came up with for other toddlers that love playing on iPads:
According to statistics released by IDC Apple is now the 3rd largest mobile phone maker in the world, based on production during 2011. In the last quarter of 2011, Apple made up 8.7% of the mobile phone market shipping over 37 million iPhones a growth of 128% when compared to 2010. Above Apple was Samsung (in 1st place), mostly known these days for their popular Android phones and Nokia, who for the most part seem to be churning out a bunch of crap.
Popular Apple blog 9to5mac.com are hearing rumours coming from their sources at Foxconn in China that they are getting preparing the iPhone 5 production lines ready for a release this summer. If this is true, then it seems like the iPhone 4s truly was a stop-gap measure while they were sorting out some last minute niggles with the iPhone 5 and would explain why the 4s was released so much later than previous models.
I’m always keen to try and work out what will be coming from Apple in coming months, so I’ve been keeping my ear to the ground and watching the Mac rumour sites to see if I can’t try and predict the future just a little bit. Here’s what I think will be coming from the mothership in 2012:
Apple held their much awaited Education Event today and definitely kept things strictly educational despite the rumours that Tim Cook would be announcing an all new iPad3 at the event. Sadly, the Apple CEO didn’t announce and iPad3, or a new cheaper, cloud-based EPad (with the E standing for Education) as was also rumoured for today.
What was announced however, was an update to the iBooks app for the iPhone and iPad, an all new iBooks Author application for creating your own e-books on the Mac. Apple also announced a dedicated iPad app for iTunes-U, Apple’s digital learning tool that allows teachers to create learning materials, course work and quizzes and share them with their students all through the app.
As we’re new to the world of e-commerce we thought we’d have a special offer for our lovely first customers. We’ve got a huge box of Sumajin SmartWraps to give away to our first 200 customers. The SmartWrap is a funky cable manager that comes in 8 different colours and helps you to keep your headphone cables tidy and tangle free.
They’re made from a funky silicone type material that makes them bendy but firm, and ever so nice to touch. Sometimes I find myself stroking it like a teeny tiny little silicone mouse (but then, I am a bit strange). I’m a big fan of this product and have one on hand all the time.
To get yours just place an order of ANY value and we’ll throw a FREE Smartwrap in at no extra cost (colour may vary). That’s it. No if’s, not buts and no crazy terms and conditions. You order, you get a free SmartWrap thrown in as long as we still have some in stock. It’s easy (or simples as that damn dirty Meerkat keeps telling us!).
We have lift off! MyShinyEye has been a few months in the planning, and a few years in dreams and aspirations, but finally our little business is leaving the launch pad! From the iPhone and iPad to my precious MacBook Pro and even the cute little iPod Nano that I use to play music on the go. So today… we launch! If you need cases, covers, stands, cables or adapters for your Shiny Apple iDevice then you’ve come to the right place!
